A fall can be a disastrous occurrence for you or a loved one, possibly causing serious injury that can affect daily activities. Even the fear of falling can limit mobility. To prevent falls from occurring and ease the fear of a tumble, Hills & Dales is now offering free in-depth balance screening to assess your or a loved one’s risk of a fall.
The balance screenings consist of a questionnaire along with physical tests performed by a physical therapist. If the therapist thinks that balance training is appropriate, a referral will be made for physical therapy or the Otago program, a specialized group of exercises designed to improve balance. While age-related balance changes are normal, proper balance training can reduce the risk of a fall.
The balance screenings are available by appointment at the rehabilitation clinics in Caro and Cass City.
To set up your free in-depth balance screening, please call the Caro Rehabilitation Clinic at 989-673-4999 or the Cass City clinic at 989-872-2084.
